#113 1899 - 1910 Spectator Jacket. $14.00 (US funds) The princess cut of this jacket makes fitting all figure types easy and quick. The original was all machine sewn including the pad stitching in the collar. The fly front closure allows you to use any flat buttons in your collection. The tailored look is emphasized by top stitching the collar, princess seams and cuffs. The jacket is fully lined. The sleeves are not merely gathered, they are cartridge pleated. This gives them an interesting shape. You can achieve a true pigeon breast with the padding that smooths the line between the shoulder and bust line. According to the author of History of 20th Century Fashion, it was the tailored jacket which gave rise to the delicate lingerie blouse.
