Saundra Altman started Past Patterns in 1979 to give clients a means to produce vintage garments while teaching them history.
Along the way she collected vast quantities of information, some original documents, some copies of documents, that range from the 1850s to the 1930s. Almost all of this information is American in origin.
Our goal is to be one of your sources for garment research. If you do copy an image from us, please share where you got it from. Hopefully this will lead others back to the site, they will see our advertising and this will help to offset the expense of doing this.
